Mike Henchen is a Manager with RMI's electricity practice. His most recent work at RMI has been an assessment of lessons learned in utility pilot and demonstration programs at the distribution edge. He has also led an evaluation of new utility business models that support renewables, energy efficiency, and other distributed resources. Mike is interested in developing solutions for clean, affordable, and distributed energy that benefit both utilities and customers.
Before joining RMI, Mike was an engagement manager for McKinsey and Company in San Francisco. He worked primarily in the electric utility sector, helping utilities implement operational efficiency programs. He also served Fortune 500 companies in the aerospace, mining, and insurance industries on a variety of projects ranging from supplier management to customer experience redesign.
Before this, Mike served as an engineer officer in the US Army, deploying to Afghanistan with the 101st Airborne Division in 2008-2009, performing counterinsurgency and base defense missions as a platoon leader and company executive officer.
